(Three Volume Set) Africa and the Discovery of America by Leo Wiener, published in 1920. The author was a Harvard professor of Slavic languages and literatures, claimed that West African and Mandingo explorers and traders reached the Americas long before Columbus using linguistic and botanical evidence. While the author’s theories have largely been rejected by modern academics, other academics have pointed out the possibility of pre-Columbian African contact. All three volumes are hardcover with gilt lettering and light shelfwear only.
