The Turba Philosophorum or Assembley of the Sages: Called Also The Book Of Truth In The Art And The Third Pythagoracal Synod And Known Unto The Wise As The Crowd Of Philosophers. An Ancient Alchemical Treatise Translated from the Latin by Arthur Edward Waite,  published in 2006. Limited but unnumbered, these were an extremely limited creation of the publisher in a unique stamped jacket.. “The Turba Philosophorum” (Assembly of the Alchemical Philosophers), is thought to date from the twelfth century and is one of the earliest known Latin alchemical texts. It became one of the best-known works in the alchemical lexicon and is often quoted in later writings. Waite’s translation remains one of the most comprehensive: Writing of the text in his autobiography, Waite observed “It was translated and annotated by myself using two recensions which are both well known to Hermetists” – in other words it contains both the major versions of the work, probably drawn from Manget’s “Bibliotheca Chemica Curiosa” (1702). Illustrated with a fold-out. Hardcover with a stunning green blue jacket with gilt orobouros seal on front and back, near fine.
