Book of Raziel the Angel

A late 18th early 19th century copy of the Book of Raziel the Angel. Known as the Sepher Raziel, a grimoire believed to have been compiled originally in the 13th century and is considered part of the Solomonic grimoire tradition. Text is in Hebrew. Illustrated with occult diagrams including a the original fold out in stunning condition with only a small margin tear. The work has been bound in a stunning Morocco leather quarter binding with marbled paper covered boards. The providence of this book is interesting, it came originally from a Jewish family in the Vilma ghetto who made it to the holy land without the book being stolen, confiscated or burned. Most of these books were burned by the Germans during the second war. Light shelfwear only. Some rippling and occasional foxing to the margins of the parchment otherwise exceptionally clean.
